Testing Operational Pump Insulation with a Megohmmeter

How can you check the insulation condition of a submersible pump after it has been in operation for an extended period?

In this video, HCP PUMP demonstrates how to use a megohmmeter (insulation resistance tester) to check the insulation resistance of an operational submersible pump.

From disconnecting the power supply and confirming that the pump has completely stopped, to checking the tester, taking measurements at the control panel, and interpreting the readings, this video covers the key points of routine insulation inspection.

We recommend checking the insulation resistance every six months to one year. The inspection interval should be adjusted according to the operating environment and condition of the equipment.

【Insulation Resistance Guidelines】
▪ Above 10 MΩ: Normal
▪ Below 10 MΩ: Inspection and maintenance are recommended
▪ Below 1 MΩ: Stop the pump immediately and send it for repair to avoid the risk of electrical leakage and electric shock.

Regular inspection helps identify insulation abnormalities early and provides a reference for pump maintenance and repair.

※ Before testing, make sure the equipment is disconnected from the power supply and has completely stopped. The inspection should be performed by a qualified technician in accordance with the pump specifications, manufacturer requirements, and operating instructions of the test instrument.
